Early this week we mostly worked and prepared the house for our friends to visit. They have two kids, one almost three years old and one 7 month old. They arrived late on the third and it was wonderful to greet them at the airport. Seeing their son after two years, shows you just how fast time flies. On the overhand, our friends both look as though they haven't aged since the last time we saw them!
Their son couldn't stop talking about their flight and how great it was to go through the clouds! I was getting a kick out of seeing an older kid. Their daughter was so sweet, delicate and gentle.
The following day we all went downtown to see the bike race and play on the new playground. We ran into our good friends and their kids too. Everyone seemed to enjoy the outing. Upon the return home our attempt at getting all the kids to nap on a schedule began. One went down and then one woke up and then another one fell asleep half way through another one's nap. It has been pretty funny getting the scheduling figured out. Later in the evening we went to our friends' fourth of July BBQ. All of the kids enjoyed playing together and
We made it to the farmer's market on Saturday morning and the playground again. On the way over we saw a hot air balloon land and fed some horses carrots. I let Sierra get muddy at the park sand pit.
My friend Amy and I got out for a run all by ourselves one morning. We all went for an "adventure walk," as Owen calls it, together. Gus, Neal, and Owen went for a bike ride together (where Owen tested out the bike trailer). Otherwise we've been cooking, reading books and playing around the house. The kids all seem to enjoy each other which is such a joy to observe from a parenting perspective. Sierra watches Owen and gives them both kisses and hugs. Elaine is entertained by both of the older kids. Unfortunately, she has had a fever for a few days and is going to the doctor's today. Gus and I are happy to have such great people in town to spend time with. I'm truly enjoying my stay home vacation with them.
